Chapter
1
And they cameG2064 over to the otherG4008 sideG4008 of the sea,G2281 intoG1519 the countryG5561 of the Gadarenes.G1046
2
And when he was comeG1831 out of the ship,G4143 immediatelyG2112 there metG528 him out of the tombsG3419 a manG444 with an uncleanG169 spirit,G4151
3
WhoG3739 hadG2192 his dwellingG2731 amongG1722 the tombs;G3419 and noG3762 manG3762 couldG1410 bindG1210 him, no,G3777 not with chains:G254
4
BecauseG1223 that he had been oftenG4178 boundG1210 with fettersG3976 and chains,G254 and the chainsG254 had been pluckedG1288 asunderG1288 by him, and the fettersG3976 brokenG4937 in pieces: neitherG2532 G3762 couldG2480 anyG3762 man tameG1150 him.
5
And always,G1275 nightG3571 and day,G2250 he was in the mountains,G3735 and in the tombs,G3418 crying,G2896 and cuttingG2629 himselfG1438 with stones.G3037
6
But when he sawG1492 JesusG2424 afarG3113 off,G575 he ranG5143 and worshippedG4352 him,
7
And criedG2896 with a loudG3173 voice,G5456 and said,G2036 WhatG5101 have I to do with you, Jesus,G2424 you SonG5207 of the mostG5310 highG5310 God?G2316 I adjureG3726 you by God,G2316 that you tormentG928 me not.
8
For he saidG3004 to him, ComeG1831 out of the man,G444 you uncleanG169 spirit.G4151
9
And he askedG1905 him, WhatG5101 is your name?G3686 And he answered,G611 saying,G3004 My nameG3686 is Legion:G3003 for we are many.G4183
10
And he soughtG3870 him muchG4183 that he would not sendG649 them awayG649 out of the country.G5561
11
NowG1161 thereG1563 was there nearG4314 to the mountainsG3735 a greatG3173 herdG34 of swineG5519 feeding.G1006
12
And allG3956 the devilsG1142 soughtG3870 him, saying,G3004 SendG3992 us intoG1519 the swine,G5519 that we may enterG1525 intoG1519 them.
13
And immediatelyG2112 JesusG2424 gaveG2010 them leave.G2010 And the uncleanG169 spiritsG4151 wentG1831 out, and enteredG1525 intoG1519 the swine:G5519 and the herdG34 ranG3729 violently downG2596 a steepG2911 place intoG1519 the sea,G2281 (they were aboutG5613 twoG1367 thousand;G1367) and were chokedG4155 in the sea.G2281
14
And they that fedG1006 the swineG5519 fled,G5343 and toldG312 it in the city,G4172 and in the country.G68 And they wentG1831 out to seeG1492 whatG5101 it was that was done.G1096
15
And they comeG2064 to Jesus,G2424 and seeG2334 him that was possessedG1139 with the devil,G1139 and hadG2192 the legion,G3003 sitting,G2521 and clothed,G2439 and in his rightG4993 mind:G4993 and they were afraid.G5399
16
And they that sawG1492 it toldG1334 them howG4459 it befellG1096 to him that was possessedG1139 with the devil,G1139 and also concerningG4012 the swine.G5519
17
And they beganG756 to prayG3870 him to departG565 out of their coasts.G3725
18
And when he was comeG1684 intoG1519 the ship,G4143 he that had been possessedG1139 with the devilG1139 prayedG3870 him that he might be with him.
19
However, JesusG2424 sufferedG863 him not, but saidG3004 to him, GoG5217 homeG3624 to your friends,G4674 and tellG312 them howG3745 greatG3745 things the LordG2962 has doneG4160 for you, and has had compassionG1653 on you.
20
And he departed,G565 and beganG756 to publishG2784 in DecapolisG1179 howG3745 greatG3745 things JesusG2424 had doneG4160 for him: and allG3956 men did marvel.G2296
21
And when JesusG2424 was passedG1276 overG1276 againG3825 by shipG4143 to the otherG4008 side,G4008 muchG4183 peopleG3793 gatheredG4863 to him: and he was nearG3844 to the sea.G2281
22
And, behold,G2400 there comesG2064 oneG1520 of the rulersG752 of the synagogue,G752 JairusG2383 by name;G3686 and when he sawG1492 him, he fellG4098 atG4314 his feet,G4228
23
And soughtG3870 him greatly,G4183 saying,G3004 My littleG2365 daughterG2365 liesG2192 at the pointG2079 of death:G2079 I pray you, comeG2064 and layG2007 your handsG5495 onG2007 her, that she may be healed;G4982 and she shall live.G2198
24
And Jesus wentG565 with him; and muchG4183 peopleG3793 followedG190 him, and throngedG4918 him.
25
And a certain woman,G1135 which hadG1510 an issueG4511 of bloodG129 twelveG1427 years,G2094
26
And had sufferedG3958 manyG4183 things of manyG4183 physicians,G2395 and had spentG1159 allG3956 that she had,G3844 and was nothingG3367 bettered,G5623 but ratherG3123 grewG2064 worse,G5501
27
When she had heardG191 of Jesus,G2424 cameG2064 in the pressG3793 behind,G3693 and touchedG680 his garment.G2440
28
For she said,G3004 IfG2579 I may touchG680 but his clothes,G2440 I shall be whole.G4982
29
And straightwayG2112 the fountainG4077 of her bloodG129 was driedG3583 up; and she feltG1097 in her bodyG4983 that she was healedG2390 of that plague.G3148
30
And Jesus,G2424 immediatelyG2112 knowingG1921 in himselfG1438 that virtueG1411 had goneG1831 out of him, turnedG1994 him aboutG1994 in the press,G3793 and said,G3004 WhoG5101 touchedG680 my clothes?G2440
31
And his disciplesG3101 saidG3004 to him, You seeG991 the multitudeG3793 throngingG4918 you, and sayG3004 you, WhoG5101 touchedG680 me?
32
And he lookedG4017 roundG4017 aboutG4017 to seeG1492 her that had doneG4160 thisG5124 thing.
33
But the womanG1135 fearingG5399 and trembling,G5141 knowingG1492 whatG3739 was doneG1096 in her, cameG2064 and fellG4363 down beforeG4363 him, and toldG2036 him allG3956 the truth.G225
34
And he saidG2036 to her, Daughter,G2364 your faithG4102 has madeG4982 you whole;G4982 goG5217 in peace,G1515 and be wholeG5199 of your plague.G3148
35
While he yetG2089 spoke,G2980 there cameG2064 from the rulerG752 of the synagogue'sG752 house certain which said,G3004 Your daughterG2364 is dead:G599 whyG5101 troubleG4660 you the MasterG1320 anyG2089 further?G2089
36
As soonG2112 as JesusG2424 heardG191 the wordG3056 that was spoken,G2980 he saidG3004 to the rulerG752 of the synagogue,G752 Be not afraid,G5399 onlyG3440 believe.G4100
37
And he sufferedG863 noG3762 manG3762 to followG4870 him, saveG1508 Peter,G4074 and James,G2385 and JohnG2491 the brotherG80 of James.G2385
38
And he comesG2064 to the houseG3624 of the rulerG752 of the synagogue,G752 and seesG2334 the tumult,G2351 and them that weptG2799 and wailedG214 greatly.G4183
39
And when he was comeG1525 in, he saidG3004 to them, WhyG5101 makeG2350 you this ado,G2350 and weep?G2799 the damselG3813 is not dead,G599 but sleeps.G2518
40
And they laughedG2606 him to scorn.G2606 But when he had putG1544 them allG537 out, he takesG3880 the fatherG3962 and the motherG3384 of the damsel,G3813 and them that were with him, and entersG1531 in whereG3699 the damselG3813 was lying.G345
41
And he tookG2902 the damselG3813 by the hand,G5495 and saidG3004 to her, TalithaG5008 cumi;G2891 whichG3739 is, being interpreted,G3177 Damsel,G2877 I sayG3004 to you, arise.G1453
42
And straightwayG2112 the damselG2877 arose,G450 and walked;G4043 for she was of the age of twelveG1427 years.G2094 And they were astonishedG1839 with a greatG3173 astonishment.G1611
43
And he chargedG1291 them straightlyG4183 that noG3367 manG3367 should knowG1097 it; and commandedG2036 that something should be givenG1325 her to eat.G5315
