Chapter
1
To the chiefH5329 Musician,H5329 A PsalmH4210 of David.H1732 HoldH2790 not your peace,H2790 O GodH430 of my praise;H8416
2
For the mouthH6310 of the wickedH7563 and the mouthH6310 of the deceitfulH4820 are openedH6605 againstH5921 me: they have spokenH1696 against me with a lyingH8267 tongue.H3956
3
They compassedH5437 me about also with wordsH1697 of hatred;H8135 and foughtH3898 against me withoutH2600 a cause.H2600
4
For my loveH160 they are my adversaries:H7853 but I give myself to prayer.H8605
5
And they have rewardedH7760 me evilH7451 for good,H2896 and hatredH8135 for my love.H160
6
SetH6485 you a wickedH7563 man overH5921 him: and let SatanH7854 standH5975 atH5921 his rightH3225 hand.H3225
7
When he shall be judged,H8199 let him be condemned:H3318 H7563 and let his prayerH8605 becomeH1961 sin.H2401
8
Let his daysH3117 be few;H4592 and let anotherH312 takeH3947 his office.H6486
9
Let his childrenH1121 be fatherless,H3490 and his wifeH802 a widow.H490
10
Let his childrenH1121 be continually vagabonds,H5128 and beg:H7592 let them seekH1875 their bread also out of their desolateH2723 places.
11
Let the extortionistH5383 catchH5367 allH3605 that he has; and let the strangersH2114 spoilH962 his labor.H3018
12
Let there be noneH408 to extendH4900 mercyH2617 to him: neitherH408 let there be any to favorH2603 his fatherlessH3490 children.
13
Let his posterityH319 be cutH3772 off; and in the generationH1755 followingH312 let their nameH8034 be blottedH4229 out.
14
Let the iniquityH5771 of his fathersH1 be rememberedH2142 with the LORD;H3068 and let not the sinH2403 of his motherH517 be blottedH4229 out.
15
Let them be beforeH5048 the LORDH3068 continually,H8548 that he may cutH3772 off the memoryH2143 of them from the earth.H776
16
BecauseH3282 that he rememberedH2142 not to showH6213 mercy,H2617 but persecutedH7291 the poorH6041 and needyH34 man,H376 that he might even slayH4191 the brokenH5218 in heart.H3824
17
As he lovedH157 cursing,H7045 so let it comeH935 to him: as he delightedH2654 not in blessing,H1293 so let it be farH7368 from him.
18
As he clothedH3847 himself with cursingH7045 like as with his garment,H4055 so let it comeH935 into his bowelsH7130 like water,H4325 and like oilH8081 into his bones.H6106
19
Let it be to him as the garmentH899 which coversH5844 him, and for a girdleH4206 with which he is girdedH2296 continually.H8548
20
Let thisH2063 be the rewardH6468 of my adversariesH7853 from the LORD,H3068 and of them that speakH1696 evilH7451 againstH5921 my soul.H5315
21
But doH6213 you for me, O GODH3069 the Lord,H136 for your name'sH8034 sake:H4616 becauseH3588 your mercyH2617 is good,H2896 deliverH5337 you me.
22
For I am poorH6041 and needy,H34 and my heartH3820 is woundedH2490 withinH7130 me.
23
I am goneH1980 like the shadowH6738 when it declines:H5186 I am tossedH5287 up and down as the locust.H697
24
My kneesH1290 are weakH3782 through fasting;H6685 and my fleshH1320 failsH3584 of fatness.H8081
25
I becameH1961 also a reproachH2781 to them: when they lookedH7200 on me they shookH5128 their heads.H7218
26
HelpH5826 me, O LORDH3068 my God:H430 O saveH3467 me according to your mercy:H2617
27
That they may knowH3045 that thisH2063 is your hand;H3027 that you, LORD,H3068 have doneH6213 it.
28
Let them curse,H7043 but blessH1288 you: when they arise,H6965 let them be ashamed;H954 but let your servantH5650 rejoice.H8055
29
Let my adversariesH7853 be clothedH3847 with shame,H3639 and let them coverH5844 themselves with their own confusion,H1322 as with a mantle.H4598
30
I will greatlyH3966 praiseH3034 the LORDH3068 with my mouth;H6310 yes, I will praiseH1984 him amongH8432 the multitude.H7227
31
For he shall standH5975 at the rightH3225 handH3225 of the poor,H34 to saveH3467 him from those that condemnH8199 his soul.H5315
