And the ZiphitesH2130 cameH935 to SaulH7586 to Gibeah,H1390 saying,H559 Does not DavidH1732 hideH5641 himself in the hillH1389 of Hachilah,H2444 whichH834 is beforeH5921 H6440 Jeshimon?H3452
2
Then SaulH7586 arose,H6965 and wentH3381 downH3381 to the wildernessH4057 of Ziph,H2128 having threeH7969 thousandH505 chosenH970 menH376 of IsraelH3478 with him, to seekH1245 DavidH1732 in the wildernessH4057 of Ziph.H2128
3
And SaulH7586 pitchedH2583 in the hillH1389 of Hachilah,H2444 whichH834 is beforeH5921 H6440 Jeshimon,H3452 by the way.H1870 But DavidH1732 stayedH3427 in the wilderness,H4057 and he sawH7200 that SaulH7586 cameH935 afterH310 him into the wilderness.H4057
4
DavidH1732 therefore sentH7971 out spies,H7270 and understoodH3045 that SaulH7586 was comeH935 in veryH3559 deed.H3559
5
And DavidH1732 arose,H6965 and cameH935 to the placeH4725 whereH834 H8033 SaulH7586 had pitched:H2583 and DavidH1732 beheldH7200 the placeH4725 whereH834 H8033 SaulH7586 lay,H7901 and AbnerH74 the sonH1121 of Ner,H5369 the captainH8269 of his host:H6635 and SaulH7586 layH7901 in the trench,H4570 and the peopleH5971 pitchedH2583 roundH5439 about him.
6
Then answeredH6030 DavidH1732 and saidH559 to AhimelechH288 the Hittite,H2850 and to AbishaiH52 the sonH1121 of Zeruiah,H6870 brotherH251 to Joab,H3097 saying,H559 WhoH4310 will goH3381 downH3381 with me to SaulH7586 to the camp?H4264 And AbishaiH52 said,H559 I will goH3381 downH3381 with you.
7
So DavidH1732 and AbishaiH52 cameH935 to the peopleH5971 by night:H3915 and, behold,H2009 SaulH7586 layH7901 sleepingH3463 within the trench,H4570 and his spearH2595 stuckH4600 in the groundH776 at his bolster:H4763 but AbnerH74 and the peopleH5971 layH7901 roundH5439 about him.
8
Then saidH559 AbishaiH52 to David,H1732 GodH430 has deliveredH5462 your enemyH341 into your handH3027 this day:H3117 nowH6258 therefore let me smiteH5221 him, I prayH4994 you, with the spearH2595 even to the earthH776 at once,H6471 H259 and I will not smite him the secondH8138 time.
9
And DavidH1732 saidH559 to Abishai,H52 DestroyH7843 him not: for whoH4310 can stretchH7971 forth his handH3027 against the LORD'sH3068 anointed,H4899 and be guiltless?H5352
10
DavidH1732 saidH559 furthermore, As the LORDH3068 lives,H2416 the LORDH3068 shall smiteH5062 him; orH176 his dayH3117 shall comeH935 to die;H4191 or he shall descendH3381 into battle,H4421 and perish.H5595
11
The LORDH3068 forbidH2486 that I should stretchH7971 forth my handH3027 against the LORD'sH3068 anointed:H4899 but, I prayH4994 you, takeH3947 you nowH6258 the spearH2595 that is at his bolster,H4763 and the cruseH6835 of water,H4325 and let us go.H3212
12
So DavidH1732 tookH3947 the spearH2595 and the cruseH6835 of waterH4325 from Saul'sH7586 bolster;H4763 and they gotH3212 them away,H3212 and noH369 man sawH7200 it, norH369 knewH3045 it, neitherH369 awaked:H6974 for they were allH3605 asleep;H3463 becauseH3588 a deepH8639 sleepH8639 from the LORDH3068 was fallenH5307 on them.
13
Then DavidH1732 wentH5674 overH5674 to the otherH5676 side,H5676 and stoodH5975 onH5921 the topH7218 of an hillH2022 afarH7350 off; a greatH7227 spaceH4725 being betweenH996 them:
14
And DavidH1732 criedH7121 to the people,H5971 and to AbnerH74 the sonH1121 of Ner,H5369 saying,H559 AnswerH6030 you not, Abner?H74 Then AbnerH74 answeredH6030 and said,H559 WhoH4310 are you that cryH7121 to the king?H4428
15
And DavidH1732 saidH559 to Abner,H74 Are not you a valiant man?H376 and whoH4310 is likeH3644 to you in Israel?H3478 whyH4100 then have you not keptH8104 your lordH113 the king?H4428 for there cameH935 oneH259 of the peopleH5971 in to destroyH7843 the kingH4428 your lord.H113
16
ThisH2088 thingH1697 is not goodH2896 that you have done.H6213 As the LORDH3068 lives,H2416 you are worthyH1121 to die,H4194 becauseH834 you have not keptH8104 your master,H113 the LORD'sH3068 anointed.H4899 And nowH6258 seeH7200 whereH335 the king'sH4428 spearH2595 is, and the cruseH6835 of waterH4325 that was at his bolster.H4763
17
And SaulH7586 knewH5234 David'sH1732 voice,H6963 and said,H559 Is thisH2088 your voice,H6963 my sonH1121 David?H1732 And DavidH1732 said,H559 It is my voice,H6963 my lord,H113 O king.H4428
18
And he said,H559 WhyH4100 does my lordH113 thusH2088 pursueH7291 afterH310 his servant?H5650 for whatH4100 have I done?H6213 or whatH4100 evilH7451 is in my hand?H3027
19
NowH6258 therefore, I prayH4994 you, let my lordH113 the kingH4428 hearH8085 the wordsH1697 of his servant.H5650 IfH518 the LORDH3068 have stirredH5496 you up against me, let him acceptH7306 an offering:H4503 but ifH518 they be the childrenH1121 of men,H120 cursedH779 be they beforeH6440 the LORD;H3068 for they have drivenH1644 me out this dayH3117 from abidingH5596 in the inheritanceH5159 of the LORD,H3068 saying,H559 Go,H3212 serveH5647 otherH312 gods.H430
20
NowH6258 therefore, let not my bloodH1818 fallH5307 to the earthH776 beforeH5048 the faceH6440 of the LORD:H3068 for the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 is comeH3318 out to seekH1245 a flea,H6550 as whenH834 one does huntH7291 a partridgeH7124 in the mountains.H2022
21
Then saidH559 Saul,H7586 I have sinned:H2398 return,H7725 my sonH1121 David:H1732 for I will noH3808 moreH5750 do you harm,H7489 becauseH8478 H834 my soulH5315 was preciousH3365 in your eyesH5869 thisH2088 day:H3117 behold,H2009 I have played the fool,H5528 and have erredH7683 exceedingly.H7235 H3966
22
And DavidH1732 answeredH6030 and said,H559 BeholdH2009 the king'sH4428 spear!H2595 and let oneH259 of the youngH5288 men comeH5674 overH5674 and fetchH3947 it.
23
The LORDH3068 renderH7725 to every manH376 his righteousnessH6666 and his faithfulness;H530 for the LORDH3068 deliveredH5414 you into my handH3027 to day,H3117 but I wouldH14 not stretchH7971 forth my handH3027 against the LORD'sH3068 anointed.H4899
24
And, behold,H2009 as your lifeH5315 was muchH1431 setH1431 by thisH2088 dayH3117 in my eyes,H5869 soH3651 let my lifeH5315 be muchH1431 setH1431 by in the eyesH5869 of the LORD,H3068 and let him deliverH5337 me out of allH3605 tribulation.H6869
25
Then SaulH7586 saidH559 to David,H1732 BlessedH1288 be you, my sonH1121 David:H1732 you shall bothH1571 doH6213 great things, and alsoH1571 shall still prevail.H3201 So DavidH1732 wentH3212 on his way,H1870 and SaulH7586 returnedH7725 to his place.H4725
