Bible Version
Book
Chapter
1
And he wentG1831 out from there,G1564 and cameG2064 intoG1519 his own country;G3968 and his disciplesG3101 followG190 him.
2
And when the sabbathG4521 day was come,G1096 he beganG756 to teachG1321 in the synagogue:G4864 and manyG4183 hearingG191 him were astonished,G1605 saying,G3004 From whereG4159 has thisG5129 man theseG5023 things? and whatG5101 wisdomG4678 is thisG3588 which is givenG1325 to him, that evenG2532 suchG5108 mightyG1411 works are workedG1096 by his hands?G5495
3
Is not thisG3778 the carpenter,G5045 the sonG5207 of Mary,G3137 the brotherG80 of James,G2385 and Joses,G2500 and of Juda,G2455 and Simon?G4613 and are not his sistersG79 hereG5602 with us? And they were offendedG4624 atG1722 him.
4
But Jesus,G2424 saidG3004 to them, A prophetG4396 is not withoutG820 honor,G820 but in his own country,G3968 and amongG1722 his own kin,G4773 and in his own house.G3614
5
And he couldG1410 thereG1563 doG4160 noG3762 mightyG1411 work,G1411 saveG1508 that he laidG2007 his handsG5495 on a fewG3641 sickG732 folk, and healedG2323 them.
6
And he marveledG2296 becauseG1223 of their unbelief.G570 And he wentG4013 roundG2943 aboutG2945 the villages,G2968 teaching.G1321
7
And he calledG4341 to him the twelve,G1427 and beganG756 to sendG649 them forthG1614 by twoG1417 and two;G1417 and gaveG1325 them powerG1849 over uncleanG169 spirits;G4151
8
And commandedG3853 them that they should takeG142 nothingG3367 for their journey,G3598 saveG1508 a staffG4464 only;G3440 noG3361 money,G4082 noG3361 bread,G740 noG3361 moneyG5475 in their purse:G2223
9
But be shodG5265 with sandals;G4547 and not putG1746 onG1746 twoG1417 coats.G5509
10
And he saidG3004 to them, In whatG3699 placeG3699 soeverG1437 you enterG1525 intoG1519 an house,G3614 thereG1563 abideG3306 tillG2193 you departG1831 from that place.G1564
11
And whoeverG3745 G302 shall not receiveG1209 you, norG3366 hearG191 you, when you departG1607 there,G1564 shakeG1621 offG1621 the dustG5522 underG5270 yourG5216 feetG4228 for a testimonyG3142 against them. TrulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, It shall be moreG414 tolerableG414 for SodomG4670 and GomorrhaG1116 in the dayG2250 of judgment,G2920 thanG2228 for that city.G4172
12
And they wentG1831 out, and preachedG2784 that men should repent.G3340
13
And they castG1544 out manyG4183 devils,G1140 and anointedG218 with oilG1637 manyG4183 that were sick,G732 and healedG2323 them.
14
And kingG935 HerodG2264 heardG191 of him; (for his nameG3686 was spreadG5318 abroad:G1519 G1096) and he said,G3004 That JohnG2491 the BaptistG907 was risenG1453 from the dead,G3498 and thereforeG1223 G5124 mightyG1411 works do showG1754 forthG1754 themselves in him.
15
OthersG243 said,G3004 That it is Elias.G2243 And othersG243 said,G3004 That it is a prophet,G4396 orG2228 as oneG1520 of the prophets.G4396
16
But when HerodG2264 heardG191 thereof, he said,G2036 It is John,G2491 whomG3739 I beheaded:G607 he is risenG1453 from the dead.G3498
17
For HerodG2264 himselfG846 had sentG649 forthG1614 and laid holdG2902 on John,G2491 and boundG1210 him in prisonG5438 for Herodias'G2266 sake, his brotherG80 Philip'sG5376 wife:G1135 for he had marriedG1060 her.
18
For JohnG2491 had saidG3004 to Herod,G2264 It is not lawfulG1832 for you to haveG2192 your brother'sG80 wife.G1135
19
Therefore HerodiasG2266 had a quarrelG1758 against him, and wouldG2309 have killedG615 him; but she couldG1410 not:
20
For HerodG2264 fearedG5399 John,G2491 knowingG1492 that he was a justG1342 manG435 and an holy,G40 and observedG4933 him; and when he heardG191 him, he didG4160 manyG4183 things, and heardG191 him gladly.G2234
21
And when a convenientG2121 dayG2250 was come,G1096 that HerodG2264 on his birthdayG1077 madeG4160 a supperG1173 to his lords,G3175 highG5310 captains,G5506 and chiefG4413 estates of Galilee;G1056
22
And when the daughterG2364 of the saidG846 HerodiasG2266 cameG1525 in, and danced,G3738 and pleasedG700 HerodG2264 and them that satG4873 with him, the kingG935 saidG2036 to the damsel,G2877 AskG154 of me whateverG3739 G1437 you will,G2309 and I will giveG1325 it you.
23
And he sworeG3660 to her, WhateverG3739 G1437 you shall askG154 of me, I will giveG1325 it you, to the halfG2255 of my kingdom.G932
24
And she wentG1831 forth,G1831 and saidG2036 to her mother,G3384 WhatG5101 shall I ask?G154 And she said,G2036 The headG2776 of JohnG2491 the Baptist.G910
25
And she cameG1525 in straightwayG2112 with hasteG4710 to the king,G935 and asked,G154 saying,G3004 I willG2309 that you giveG1325 me by and by in a chargerG4094 the headG2776 of JohnG2491 the Baptist.G910
26
And the kingG935 was exceedingG4036 sorry;G4036 yet for his oath'sG3727 sake, and for their sakes whichG3588 satG4873 with him, he wouldG2309 not rejectG114 her.
27
And immediatelyG2112 the kingG935 sentG649 an executioner,G4688 and commandedG2004 his headG2776 to be brought:G5342 and he wentG565 and beheadedG607 him in the prison,G5438
28
And broughtG5342 his headG2776 in a charger,G4094 and gaveG1325 it to the damsel:G2877 and the damselG2877 gaveG1325 it to her mother.G3384
29
And when his disciplesG3101 heardG191 of it, they cameG2064 and tookG142 up his corpse,G4430 and laidG5087 it in a tomb.G3419
30
And the apostlesG652 gatheredG4863 themselves togetherG4863 to Jesus,G2424 and toldG518 him allG3956 things, bothG5037 whatG3745 they had done,G4160 and whatG3745 they had taught.G2258 G1321
31
And he saidG2036 to them, ComeG1205 you yourselvesG5210 G846 apartG2596 G2398 intoG1519 a desertG2048 place,G5117 and restG373 a while:G3641 for there were manyG4183 comingG2064 and going,G5217 and they had noG3761 leisureG2119 soG3761 much as to eat.G5315
32
And they departedG565 intoG1519 a desertG2048 placeG5117 by shipG4143 privately.G2596 G2398
33
And the peopleG3793 sawG1492 them departing,G5217 and manyG4183 knewG1921 him, and ranG4936 afootG3979 thitherG1563 out of allG3956 cities,G4172 and precededG4281 them, and cameG4905 togetherG4905 to him.
34
And Jesus,G2424 when he cameG1831 out, sawG1492 muchG4183 people,G3793 and was movedG4697 with compassionG4697 towardG1909 them, becauseG3754 they were as sheepG4263 not havingG2192 a shepherd:G4166 and he beganG756 to teachG1321 them manyG4183 things.
35
And when the dayG5610 was nowG2235 farG4183 spent, his disciplesG3101 cameG4334 to him, and said,G3004 ThisG3588 is a desertG2048 place,G5117 and nowG2235 the timeG5610 is farG4183 passed:
36
SendG630 them away,G630 that they may goG565 intoG1519 the countryG68 roundG2943 about,G2945 and intoG1519 the villages,G2968 and buyG59 themselvesG1438 bread:G740 for they haveG2192 nothingG3756 G5100 to eat.G5315
37
He answeredG611 and saidG2036 to them, GiveG1325 you them to eat.G5315 And they sayG3004 to him, Shall we goG565 and buyG59 twoG1250 hundredG1250 pennyworthG1220 of bread,G740 and giveG1325 them to eat?G5315
38
He saidG3004 to them, HowG4214 manyG4214 loavesG740 haveG2192 you? goG5217 and see.G1492 And when they knew,G1097 they say,G3004 Five,G4002 and twoG1417 fishes.G2486
39
And he commandedG2004 them to makeG347 allG3956 sitG347 downG347 by companiesG4849 on the greenG5515 grass.G5528
40
And they satG377 downG377 in ranks,G4237 by hundreds,G1540 and by fifties.G4004
41
And when he had takenG2983 the fiveG4002 loavesG740 and the twoG1417 fishes,G2486 he lookedG308 up to heaven,G3772 and blessed,G2127 and brokeG2622 the loaves,G740 and gaveG1325 them to his disciplesG3101 to setG3908 beforeG3908 them; and the twoG1417 fishesG2486 dividedG3307 he among them all.G3956
42
And they did allG3956 eat,G5315 and were filled.G5526
43
And they tookG142 up twelveG1427 basketsG2894 fullG4134 of the fragments,G2801 and of the fishes.G2486
44
And they that did eatG5315 of the loavesG740 were aboutG5616 fiveG4000 thousandG4000 men.G435
45
And straightwayG2112 he constrainedG315 his disciplesG3101 to getG1684 intoG1519 the ship,G4143 and to goG4254 to the otherG4008 sideG4008 beforeG4254 to Bethsaida,G966 whileG2193 he sentG630 awayG630 the people.G3793
46
And when he had sentG657 them away,G657 he departedG565 intoG1519 a mountainG3735 to pray.G4336
47
And when evenG3798 was come,G1096 the shipG4143 was in the middleG3319 of the sea,G2281 and he aloneG3441 onG1909 the land.G1095
48
And he sawG1492 them toilingG928 in rowing;G1643 for the windG417 was contraryG1727 to them: and aboutG4012 the fourthG5067 watchG5438 of the nightG3571 he comesG2064 to them, walkingG4043 on the sea,G2281 and wouldG2309 have passedG3928 by them.
49
But when they sawG1492 him walkingG4043 on the sea,G2281 they supposedG1380 it had beenG1511 a spirit,G5326 and criedG349 out:
50
For they allG3956 sawG1492 him, and were troubled.G5015 And immediatelyG2112 he talkedG2980 with them, and saidG3004 to them, Be of good cheer:G2293 it is I; be not afraid.G5399
51
And he wentG305 up to them intoG1519 the ship;G4143 and the windG417 ceased:G2869 and they were soreG3029 amazedG1839 in themselvesG1438 beyondG1537 G4053 measure,G4053 and wondered.G2296
52
For they consideredG4920 not the miracle of the loaves:G740 for their heartG2588 was hardened.G4456
53
And when they had passedG1276 over,G1276 they cameG2064 intoG1909 the landG1095 of Gennesaret,G1082 and drewG4358 to the shore.G4358
54
And when they were comeG1831 out of the ship,G4143 straightwayG2112 they knewG1921 him,
55
And ranG4063 throughG4063 that wholeG3650 regionG4066 roundG4066 about,G4066 and beganG756 to carryG4064 aboutG4064 in bedsG2895 thoseG3588 that were sick,G2192 G2560 whereG3699 they heardG191 he was.
56
And whereverG3699 G302 he entered,G1531 intoG1519 villages,G2968 orG2228 cities,G4172 orG2228 country,G68 they laidG5087 the sickG770 in the streets,G58 and soughtG3870 him that they might touchG680 ifG2579 it were but the borderG2899 of his garment:G2440 and as manyG3745 as touchedG680 him were madeG4982 whole.G4982
