BelshazzarH1113 the kingH4430 madeH5648 a greatH7227 feastH3900 to a thousandH506 of his lords,H7261 and drankH8355 wineH2562 beforeH6903 the thousand.H506
2
Belshazzar,H1113 whiles he tastedH2942 the wine,H2562 commandedH560 to bringH858 the goldenH1722 and silverH3702 vesselsH3984 whichH1768 his fatherH2 NebuchadnezzarH5020 had takenH5312 out of the templeH1965 whichH1768 was in Jerusalem;H3390 that the king,H4430 and his princes,H7261 his wives,H7695 and his concubines,H3904 might drinkH8355 therein.
3
ThenH116 they broughtH858 the goldenH1722 vesselsH3984 that were takenH5312 out of the templeH1965 of the houseH1005 of GodH426 whichH1768 was at Jerusalem;H3390 and the king,H4430 and his princes,H7261 his wives,H7695 and his concubines,H3904 drankH8355 in them.
4
They drankH8355 wine,H2562 and praisedH7624 the godsH426 of gold,H1722 and of silver,H3702 of brass,H5174 of iron,H6523 of wood,H636 and of stone.H69
5
In the same hourH8160 cameH5312 forthH5312 fingersH677 of a man'sH606 hand,H3028 and wroteH3790 overH6903 againstH6903 the candlestickH5043 on the plasterH1528 of the wallH3797 of the king'sH4430 palace:H1965 and the kingH4430 sawH2370 the partH6447 of the handH3028 that wrote.H3790
6
ThenH116 the king'sH4430 countenanceH2122 was changed,H8133 and his thoughtsH7476 troubledH927 him, so that the jointsH7001 of his loinsH2783 were loosed,H8271 and his kneesH755 smoteH5368 oneH1668 against another.H1668
7
The kingH4430 criedH7123 aloudH2429 to bringH5924 in the astrologers,H826 the Chaldeans,H3779 and the soothsayers.H1505 And the kingH4430 spoke,H6032 and saidH560 to the wiseH2445 men of Babylon,H895 WhoeverH3605 shall readH7123 thisH1836 writing,H3792 and showH2324 me the interpretationH6591 thereof, shall be clothedH3848 with scarlet,H711 and have a chainH2002 of goldH1722 aboutH5922 his neck,H6676 and shall be the thirdH8523 rulerH7981 in the kingdom.H4437
8
ThenH116 cameH5954 in allH3606 the king'sH4430 wiseH2445 men: but they couldH3546 not readH7123 the writing,H3792 nor make knownH3046 to the kingH4430 the interpretationH6591 thereof.
9
ThenH116 was kingH4430 BelshazzarH1113 greatlyH7690 troubled,H927 and his countenanceH2122 was changedH8133 in him, and his lordsH7261 were astonished.H7672
10
Now the queenH4433 by reasonH6903 of the wordsH4406 of the kingH4430 and his lordsH7261 cameH5954 into the banquetH4961 house:H1005 and the queenH4433 spokeH6032 and said,H560 O king,H4430 liveH2418 for ever:H5957 let not your thoughtsH7476 troubleH927 you, norH408 let your countenanceH2122 be changed:H8133
11
There is a manH1400 in your kingdom,H4437 in whomH1768 is the spiritH7308 of the holyH6922 gods;H426 and in the daysH3118 of your fatherH2 lightH5094 and understandingH7924 and wisdom,H2452 like the wisdomH2452 of the gods,H426 was foundH7912 in him; whom the kingH4430 NebuchadnezzarH5020 your father,H2 the king,H4430 I say, your father,H2 made masterH7229 of the magicians,H2749 astrologers,H826 Chaldeans,H3779 and soothsayers;H1505
12
For as muchH3606 as an excellentH3493 spirit,H7308 and knowledge,H998 and understanding,H7924 interpretingH6591 of dreams,H2493 and showingH263 of hardH280 sentences,H280 and dissolvingH8271 of doubts,H7001 were foundH7912 in the same Daniel,H1841 whomH1768 the kingH4430 namedH8036 Belteshazzar:H1096 nowH3705 let DanielH1841 be called,H7123 and he will showH2324 the interpretation.H6591
13
ThenH116 was DanielH1841 broughtH5954 in beforeH6925 the king.H4430 And the kingH4430 spokeH6032 and saidH560 to Daniel,H1841 Are you that Daniel,H1841 whichH1768 are of the childrenH1123 of the captivityH1547 of Judah,H3061 whomH1768 the kingH4430 my fatherH2 broughtH858 out of Jewry?H3061
14
I have even heardH8086 of you, that the spiritH7308 of the godsH426 is in you, and that lightH5094 and understandingH7924 and excellentH3493 wisdomH2452 is foundH7912 in you.
15
And nowH3705 the wiseH2445 men, the astrologers,H826 have been broughtH5954 in beforeH6925 me, that they should readH7123 thisH1836 writing,H3792 and make knownH3046 to me the interpretationH6591 thereof: but they couldH3546 not showH2324 the interpretationH6591 of the thing:H4406
16
And I have heardH8086 of you, that you canH3202 make interpretations,H6591 and dissolveH8271 doubts:H7001 nowH3705 ifH2006 you canH3202 readH7123 the writing,H3792 and make knownH3046 to me the interpretationH6591 thereof, you shall be clothedH3848 with scarlet,H711 and have a chainH2002 of goldH1722 aboutH5922 your neck,H6676 and shall be the thirdH8531 rulerH7981 in the kingdom.H4437
17
ThenH116 DanielH1841 answeredH6032 and saidH560 beforeH6925 the king,H4430 Let your giftsH4978 be to yourself, and giveH3052 your rewardsH5023 to another;H321 yetH1297 I will readH7123 the writingH3792 to the king,H4430 and make knownH3046 to him the interpretation.H6591
18
O you king,H4430 the mostH5943 highH5943 GodH426 gaveH3052 NebuchadnezzarH5020 your fatherH2 a kingdom,H4437 and majesty,H7238 and glory,H3367 and honor:H1923
19
And for the majestyH7238 that he gaveH3052 him, allH3606 people,H5972 nations,H524 and languages,H3961 trembledH2112 and fearedH1763 beforeH4481 H6925 him: whomH1768 he wouldH6634 he slew;H6992 and whomH1768 he wouldH6634 he kept alive;H2418 and whomH1768 he wouldH6634 he setH7313 up; and whom he wouldH6634 he putH8214 down.H8214
20
But whenH1768 his heartH3825 was liftedH7313 up, and his mindH7307 hardenedH8631 in pride,H2103 he was deposedH5182 from his kinglyH4437 throne,H3764 and they tookH5709 his gloryH3367 from him:
21
And he was drivenH2957 from the sonsH1123 of men;H606 and his heartH3825 was madeH7737 likeH5974 the beasts,H2423 and his dwellingH4070 was with the wildH6167 asses:H6167 they fedH2939 him with grassH6211 like oxen,H8450 and his bodyH1655 was wetH6647 with the dewH2920 of heaven;H8065 tillH5704 he knewH3046 that the mostH5943 highH5943 GodH426 ruledH7990 in the kingdomH4437 of men,H606 and that he appointsH6966 overH5922 it whomsoeverH4479 H1768 he will.H6634
22
And you his son,H1247 O Belshazzar,H1113 have not humbledH8214 your heart,H3825 thoughH3606 you knewH3046 allH3606 this;H1836
23
But have liftedH7313 up yourself againstH5922 the LordH4756 of heaven;H8065 and they have broughtH858 the vesselsH3984 of his houseH1005 beforeH6925 you, and you, and your lords,H7261 your wives,H7695 and your concubines,H3904 have drunkH8355 wineH2562 in them; and you have praisedH7624 the godsH426 of silver,H3702 and gold,H1722 of brass,H5174 iron,H6523 wood,H636 and stone,H69 whichH1768 seeH2370 not, norH3809 hear,H8086 norH3809 know:H3046 and the GodH426 in whoseH1768 handH3028 your breathH5396 is, and whose are allH3606 your ways,H735 have you not glorified:H1922
24
ThenH116 was the partH6447 of the handH3028 sentH7972 from him; and thisH1836 writingH3792 was written.H7560
25
And thisH1836 is the writingH3792 that was written,H7560 MENE,H4484 MENE,H4484 TEKEL,H8625 UPHARSIN.H6537
26
ThisH1836 is the interpretationH6591 of the thing:H4406 MENE;H4484 GodH426 has numberedH4483 your kingdom,H4437 and finishedH8000 it.
27
TEKEL;H8625 You are weighedH8625 in the balances,H3977 and are foundH7912 wanting.H2627
28
PERES;H6537 Your kingdomH4437 is divided,H6537 and givenH3052 to the MedesH4076 and Persians.H6540
29
ThenH116 commandedH560 Belshazzar,H1113 and they clothedH3848 DanielH1841 with scarlet,H711 and put a chainH2002 of goldH1722 aboutH5922 his neck,H6676 and made a proclamationH3745 concerningH5922 him, that he should be the thirdH8531 rulerH7990 in the kingdom.H4437
30
In that nightH3916 was BelshazzarH1113 the kingH4430 of the ChaldeansH3779 slain.H6992
31
And DariusH1868 the MedianH4077 tookH6902 the kingdom,H4437 being about three scoreH8361 and twoH8648 yearsH8140 old.H1247
