Jonah chapter 1

1
Now the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 to JonahH3124 the sonH1121 of Amittai,H573 saying,H559
2
Arise,H6965 goH1980 to Nineveh,H5210 that greatH1419 city,H5892 and cryH7121 againstH5921 it; for their wickednessH7451 is comeH5927 up beforeH6440 me.
3
But JonahH3124 roseH6965 up to fleeH1272 to TarshishH8659 from the presenceH6440 of the LORD,H3068 and wentH3381 downH3381 to Joppa;H3305 and he foundH4672 a shipH591 goingH935 to Tarshish:H8659 so he paidH5414 the fareH7939 thereof, and wentH3381 downH3381 into it, to goH935 with them to TarshishH8659 from the presenceH6440 of the LORD.H3068
4
But the LORDH3068 sentH2904 out a greatH1419 windH7307 intoH413 the sea,H3220 and there was a mightyH1419 tempestH5591 in the sea,H3220 so that the shipH591 was likeH2803 to be broken.H7665
5
Then the marinersH4419 were afraid,H3372 and criedH2199 every man to his god,H430 and castH2904 forthH2904 the waresH3627 that were in the shipH591 intoH413 the sea,H3220 to lightenH7043 it of them. But JonahH3124 was goneH3381 downH3381 intoH413 the sidesH3411 of the ship;H5600 and he lay,H7901 and was fast asleep.H7290
6
So the shipmasterH7227 H2259 cameH7126 to him, and saidH559 to him, WhatH4100 mean you, O sleeper?H7290 arise,H6965 callH7121 on your God,H430 ifH194 so be that GodH430 will thinkH6245 on us, that we perishH6 not.
7
And they saidH559 everyH376 oneH376 to his fellow,H7453 Come,H3212 and let us castH5307 lots,H1486 that we may knowH3045 for whoseH4310 causeH7945 thisH2063 evilH7451 is on us. So they castH5307 lots,H1486 and the lotH1486 fellH5307 on Jonah.H3124
8
Then saidH559 they to him, TellH5046 us, we prayH4994 you, for whoseH834 H4310 causeH834 thisH2063 evilH7451 is on us; WhatH4100 is your occupation?H4399 and from whereH370 comeH935 you? whatH4100 is your country?H776 and of whatH335 H2088 peopleH5971 are you?
9
And he saidH559 to them, I am an Hebrew;H5680 and I fearH3373 the LORD,H3068 the GodH430 of heaven,H8064 whichH834 has madeH6213 the seaH3220 and the dryH3004 land.H127
10
Then were the menH582 exceedinglyH1419 afraid,H3372 and saidH559 to him. WhyH4100 have you doneH6213 this?H2063 For the menH582 knewH3045 that he fledH1272 from the presenceH6440 of the LORD,H3068 becauseH3588 he had toldH5046 them.
11
Then saidH559 they to him, WhatH4100 shall we doH6213 to you, that the seaH3220 may be calmH8367 to us? for the seaH3220 worked,H1980 and was tempestuous.H5492
12
And he saidH559 to them, TakeH5375 me up, and castH2904 me forthH2904 intoH413 the sea;H3220 so shall the seaH3220 be calmH8367 to you: for I knowH3045 that for my sakeH7945 this greatH1419 tempestH5591 is on you.
13
Nevertheless the menH582 rowedH2864 hard to bringH7725 it to the land;H3004 but they couldH3201 not: for the seaH3220 worked,H1980 and was tempestuousH5492 againstH5921 them.
14
Why they cried to the LORD, and said, We beseech you, O LORD, we beseech you, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not on us innocent blood: for you, O LORD, have done as it pleased you.
15
So they tookH5375 up Jonah,H3124 and castH2904 him forthH2904 intoH413 the sea:H3220 and the seaH3220 ceasedH5975 from her raging.H2197
16
Then the menH582 fearedH3372 the LORDH3068 exceedingly,H1419 and offeredH2076 a sacrificeH2077 to the LORD,H3068 and made vows.H5088
17
Now the LORDH3068 had preparedH4487 a greatH1419 fishH1709 to swallowH1104 up Jonah.H3124 And JonahH3124 was in the bellyH4578 of the fishH1709 threeH7969 daysH3117 and threeH7969 nights.H3915

Jonah chapter 2

1
Then JonahH3124 prayedH6419 to the LORDH3068 his GodH430 out of the fish'sH1710 belly,H4578
2
And said,H559 I criedH7121 by reason of my afflictionH6869 to the LORD,H3068 and he heardH6030 me; out of the bellyH990 of hellH7585 criedH7768 I, and you heardH8085 my voice.H6963
3
For you had castH7993 me into the deep,H4688 in the middleH3824 of the seas;H3220 and the floodsH5104 compassedH5437 me about: allH3605 your billowsH4867 and your wavesH1530 passedH5674 overH5674 me.
4
Then I said,H559 I am castH1644 out of your sight;H5869 yetH389 I will lookH5027 againH3254 towardH413 your holyH6944 temple.H1964
5
The watersH4325 compassedH661 me about, even to the soul:H5315 the depthH8415 closedH5437 me roundH5437 about, the weedsH5488 were wrappedH2280 about my head.H7218
6
I wentH3381 downH3381 to the bottomsH7095 of the mountains;H2022 the earthH776 with her barsH1280 was aboutH1157 me for ever:H5769 yet have you broughtH5927 up my lifeH2416 from corruption,H7845 O LORDH3068 my God.H430
7
When my soulH5315 faintedH5848 withinH5921 me I rememberedH2142 the LORD:H3068 and my prayerH8605 cameH935 in to you, intoH413 your holyH6944 temple.H1964
8
They that observeH8104 lyingH7723 vanitiesH1892 forsakeH5800 their own mercy.H2617
9
But I will sacrificeH2076 to you with the voiceH6963 of thanksgiving;H8426 I will payH7999 that that I have vowed.H5087 SalvationH3444 is of the LORD.H3068
10
And the LORDH3068 spokeH559 to the fish,H1709 and it vomitedH6958 out JonahH3124 on the dryH3004 land.H3004

Jonah chapter 3

1
And the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 to JonahH3124 the secondH8145 time, saying,H559
2
Arise,H6965 goH1980 to Nineveh,H5210 that greatH1419 city,H5892 and preachH7121 to it the preachingH7150 that I bidH1696 you.
3
So JonahH3124 arose,H6965 and wentH3212 to Nineveh,H5210 according to the wordH1697 of the LORD.H3068 Now NinevehH5210 was an exceedingH430 greatH1419 cityH5892 of threeH7969 days'H3117 journey.H4109
4
And JonahH3124 beganH2490 to enterH935 into the cityH5892 a day'sH3117 journey,H4109 and he cried,H7121 and said,H559 YetH5750 fortyH705 days,H3117 and NinevehH5210 shall be overthrown.H2015
5
So the peopleH582 of NinevehH5210 believedH539 God,H430 and proclaimedH7121 a fast,H6685 and putH3847 on sackcloth,H8242 from the greatestH1419 of them even to the leastH6996 of them.
6
For wordH1697 cameH5060 to the kingH4428 of Nineveh,H5210 and he aroseH6965 from his throne,H3678 and he laidH5674 his robeH155 from him, and coveredH3680 him with sackcloth,H8242 and satH3427 in ashes.H665
7
And he caused it to be proclaimedH2199 and publishedH559 through NinevehH5210 by the decreeH2940 of the kingH4428 and his nobles,H1419 saying,H559 Let neitherH369 manH120 nor beast,H929 herdH1241 nor flock,H6629 tasteH2938 anyH3972 thing: let them not feed,H7462 norH408 drinkH8354 water:H4325
8
But let manH120 and beastH929 be coveredH3680 with sackcloth,H8242 and cryH7121 mightilyH2393 to God:H430 yes, let them turnH7725 everyH376 oneH376 from his evilH7451 way,H1870 and from the violenceH2555 that is in their hands.H3709
9
WhoH4310 can tellH3045 if GodH430 will turnH7725 and repent,H5162 and turnH7725 away from his fierceH2740 anger,H639 that we perishH6 not?
10
And GodH430 sawH7200 their works,H4639 that they turnedH7725 from their evilH7451 way;H1870 and GodH430 repentedH5162 of the evil,H7451 that he had saidH1696 that he would doH6213 to them; and he didH6213 it not.

Jonah chapter 4

1
But it displeasedH7489 H5869 JonahH3124 exceedingly,H1419 and he was very angry.H2734
2
And he prayedH6419 to the LORD,H3068 and said,H559 I prayH577 you, O LORD,H3068 was not thisH2088 my saying,H1697 whenH5704 I was yetH5704 in my country?H127 ThereforeH5921 H3651 I fledH1272 beforeH6924 to Tarshish:H8659 for I knewH3045 that you are a graciousH2587 God,H410 and merciful,H7349 slowH750 to anger,H639 and of greatH7227 kindness,H2617 and repentH5162 you of the evil.H7451
3
Therefore now,H6258 O LORD,H3068 take,H3947 I beseechH4994 you, my lifeH5315 from me; for it is betterH2896 for me to dieH4194 than to live.H2416
4
Then saidH559 the LORD,H3068 Do you wellH3190 to be angry?H2734
5
So JonahH3124 wentH3318 out of the city,H5892 and satH3427 on the eastH6924 sideH6924 of the city,H5892 and thereH8033 madeH6213 him a booth,H5521 and satH3427 underH8478 it in the shadow,H6738 tillH5704 he might seeH7200 whatH4100 would becomeH1961 of the city.H5892
6
And the LORDH3068 GodH430 preparedH4487 a gourd,H7021 and made it to comeH5927 up overH5921 Jonah,H3124 that it might be a shadowH6738 overH5921 his head,H7218 to deliverH5337 him from his grief.H7451 So JonahH3124 was exceedingH1419 gladH8056 of the gourd.H7021
7
But GodH430 preparedH4487 a wormH8438 when the morningH7837 roseH5927 the nextH4283 day,H4283 and it smoteH5221 the gourdH7021 that it withered.H3001
8
And it cameH1961 to pass, when the sunH8121 did arise,H2224 that GodH430 preparedH4487 a vehementH2759 eastH6921 wind;H7307 and the sunH8121 beatH5221 on the headH7218 of Jonah,H3124 that he fainted,H5968 and wishedH7592 in himself to die,H4191 and said,H559 It is betterH2896 for me to dieH4191 than to live.H2416
9
And GodH430 saidH559 to Jonah,H3124 Do you wellH3190 to be angryH2734 for the gourd?H7021 And he said,H559 I do wellH3190 to be angry,H2734 even to death.H4194
10
Then saidH559 the LORD,H3068 You have had pityH2347 onH5921 the gourd,H7021 for the whichH834 you have not labored,H5998 neitherH3808 made it grow;H1431 which cameH1961 up in a night,H3915 and perishedH6 in a night:H3915
11
And should not I spareH2347 Nineveh,H5210 that greatH1419 city,H5892 wherein are moreH7227 then six scoreH8147 thousandH7239 personsH120 that cannotH3808 discernH3045 betweenH996 their rightH3225 handH3225 and their leftH8040 hand;H8040 and also muchH7227 cattle?H929

2 Timothy chapter 2

1
You therefore,G3767 my son,G5043 be strongG1743 in the graceG5485 that is in ChristG5547 Jesus.G2424
2
And the things that you have heardG191 of me amongG1223 manyG4183 witnesses,G3144 the sameG5023 commitG3908 you to faithfulG4103 men,G444 whoG3748 shall be ableG2425 to teachG1321 othersG2087 also.G2532
3
You thereforeG3767 endureG2553 hardness,G2553 as a goodG2570 soldierG4757 of JesusG2424 Christ.G5547
4
NoG3762 manG3762 that warsG4754 entanglesG1707 himself with the affairsG4230 of this life;G979 that he may pleaseG700 him who has chosenG4758 him to be a soldier.G4758
5
And ifG1437 a manG5100 alsoG2532 striveG118 for masteries, yet is he not crowned,G4737 exceptG3362 he striveG118 lawfully.G3545
6
The farmerG1092 that laborsG2872 mustG1163 be firstG4413 partakerG3335 of the fruits.G2590
7
ConsiderG3539 whatG3739 I say;G3004 and the LordG2962 giveG1325 you understandingG4907 in allG3956 things.
8
RememberG3421 that JesusG2424 ChristG5547 of the seedG4690 of DavidG1138 was raisedG1453 from the deadG3498 accordingG2596 to my gospel:G2098
9
WhereinG1722 G3757 I sufferG2553 trouble,G2553 as an evilG2557 doer,G2557 even to bonds;G1199 but the wordG3056 of GodG2316 is not bound.G1210
10
Therefore I endureG5278 allG3956 things for the elect'sG1588 sakes, that they may alsoG2532 obtainG5177 the salvationG4991 whichG3588 is in ChristG5547 JesusG2424 with eternalG166 glory.G1391
11
It is a faithfulG4103 saying:G3056 For ifG1487 we be deadG4880 with him, we shall alsoG2532 liveG4800 with him:
12
IfG1487 we suffer,G5278 we shall alsoG2532 reignG4821 with him: ifG1487 we denyG720 him, he alsoG2548 will denyG720 us:
13
IfG1487 we believeG569 not, yet he staysG3306 faithful:G4103 he cannotG3756 G1410 denyG720 himself.G1438
14
Of theseG5023 things putG5279 them in remembrance,G5279 chargingG1263 them beforeG1799 the LordG2962 that they striveG3054 not about wordsG3054 to noG3762 profit,G5539 but to the subvertingG2692 of the hearers.G191
15
StudyG4704 to showG3936 yourselfG4572 approvedG1384 to God,G2316 a workmanG2040 that needsG422 not to be ashamed,G422 rightly dividingG3718 the wordG3056 of truth.G225
16
But shunG4026 profaneG952 and vainG2757 babblings:G2757 for they will increaseG4298 to moreG4119 ungodliness.G763
17
And their wordG3056 will eatG3542 G2192 as does a canker:G1044 of whomG3739 is HymenaeusG5211 and Philetus;G5372
18
WhoG3748 concerningG4012 the truthG225 have erred,G795 sayingG3004 that the resurrectionG386 is pastG1096 already;G2235 and overthrowG396 the faithG4102 of some.G5100
19
NeverthelessG3305 the foundationG2310 of GodG2316 standsG2476 sure,G4731 havingG2192 thisG5026 seal,G4973 The LordG2962 knowsG1097 them that are his. And, Let everyG3956 one that namesG3687 the nameG3686 of ChristG5547 departG868 from iniquity.G93
20
But in a greatG3173 houseG3614 there are not onlyG3440 vesselsG4632 of goldG5552 and of silver,G693 but alsoG2532 of woodG3585 and of earth;G3749 and someG3588 G3303 to honor,G5092 and someG3588 to dishonor.G819
21
IfG1437 a manG5100 thereforeG3767 purgeG1571 himselfG1438 from these,G5130 he shall be a vesselG4632 to honor,G5092 sanctified,G37 and meetG2173 for the master'sG1203 use, and preparedG2090 to everyG3956 goodG18 work.G2041
22
FleeG5343 alsoG1161 youthfulG3512 lusts:G1939 but followG1377 righteousness,G1343 faith,G4102 charity,G26 peace,G1515 with them that callG1941 onG1941 the LordG2962 out of a pureG2513 heart.G2588
23
But foolishG3474 and unlearnedG521 questionsG2214 avoid,G3868 knowingG1492 that they do engenderG1080 strifes.G3163
24
And the servantG1401 of the LordG2962 mustG1163 not strive;G3164 but be gentleG2261 to allG3956 men, aptG1317 to teach,G1317 patient,G420
25
In meeknessG4236 instructingG3811 thoseG3588 that opposeG475 themselves; ifG3379 GodG2316 peradventureG3379 will giveG1325 them repentanceG3341 to the acknowledgingG1922 of the truth;G225
26
And that they may recoverG366 themselves out of the snareG3803 of the devil,G1228 who are takenG2221 captiveG2221 by him atG1519 his will.G2307
